Web design comprises many different skills and regulations in the creation and maintenance of websites. Web designers are expected to have a perception of usability and if their role involves creating mark up then they are also expected to be up to date with web accessibility guidelines.
Web designers use a variety of tools which depends on the production process they are involved in. These tools are updated over time by newer standards and software but the principles behind them remain the same and other testing tools for usability and accessibility to ensure their websites meet web accessibility guidelines.
1. Sketch App
Sketch is a professional graphic editor for Apple’s macOs, it’s a design tool that utilizes a fully vector-based workflow. It is for all kinds of developers, whether you’re a product designer, UX, UI, website designer. If you need to build vectors this app is for you.
It easier for a new user to adapt to this tool and it offers a delightful and open invitation to start creating shapes. The app also dials in on cool features in your Mac like its ability to auto save your workflow.
Sketch app seems to be the best of both worlds. It offers a limitless workspace while using a hierarchical system of organization, like other applications. What’s great about this is that we can create a workspace on groups of art boards that isolate the contents of what we are designing.
Think of an art board as layers in similar applications but you can place them anywhere in your universe and move content between them. The art boards also have multiple presets you can select, say if you are designing a mobile app for an iPhone. That’s right, it’s there. Having everything laid out in one space makes sharing ideas, working in groups, saving content, and visually seeing everything all possible.
2. Adobe Photoshop
Photoshop is also essential software for graphic design. Unlike sketchapp, Photoshop can be used in both Os (windows and apple’s macOs). Photoshop’s primary functions are photo editing, website design, and the creation of elements for any type of project. It is also used for creating layouts for design, such as posters and business cards.
It has limited abilities to edit or render text, Vector graphics, 3D graphics and videos. Its feature set can be expanded by Photoshop plug-ins, programs developed and distributed independently of Photoshop that can run inside it and offer new or enhanced features.
3. Font Base
Font Base is a free management tool. That runs on all the three major operating systems.
It offers a visual GUI (Graphical User Interface). For all the fonts on your system organized by collections, font foundries, and custom folders. Now if you work with most local fonts.
You can experiment with font right in the application or you can also pull dynamic web font from Google library. Well, it is no doubt the best font management tool.
4. UI Design Tool – Figma
Figma is a collaborative interface design tool, and it’s the first design tool based in the browser, making it easier for teams to create software. You never have to upload, download, or worry about versions again. It is the one single source of truth for design files and you can use this tool in any operating system (Windows, Mac or Linux). In this tool you are able to share designs, upload mockups, and even export CSS right inside the program.
Figma really simplifies design for its users. Once you use a certain color in your design, it is added to your color library under the Document Color menu option where every color used in a certain design board is saved. This is one tool I find very useful while I am working.
IconJar provides all the icons in one place. It not only stores the icon that you use, it also make easy for you to find your desired icon through several folders. Its search has been designed and developed with speed and efficiency. It’s a very easy to use this software but IconJar only runs on Mac’s operating system.
In IconJar, there is a QuickDrag option that is used to drag and drop icons in any size, color and various file formats. It has incredible support for SVGs and icon fonts. Your icon organizer is always just one click away and it has also a free trial.
Here, in this blog we have discussed the most used and popular web designing tool. With the help of these tools you can easily design your website. I hope this blog helped you.
