What is Adaptive Design?

Overview

Implementation of designs that allow them to be adapted to different form factors such as mobile devices, PC, or tablets. Delivered via pre-set screen size (but not fluid layout).

Adaptive Design is a user interface optimized for different screen sizes. It consists of a number of fixed layouts where the shape most closely associated with the user's device is presented.

UX designers optimize websites for mobile, tablet devices, or desktops. The term adaptive interface refers to a collection of web layouts specifically designed for a wide range of electronic devices. When an interface is adaptive, it is designed to detect the type of device being used and display the suitable layout of the website.
