What is Symphony?

Overview

If the design is an option, we have two great offerings (AOO and Symphony) to choose from for user experience elements. The goal of the High-Level Editor Assessment is to perform an inventory of the Symphony User Experience Design and identify which aspects of each editor's user experience should be considered for migration/merger with AOO.

The recent donation of IBM Symphony source code to the Apache OpenOffice community presents both challenges and opportunities to advance the user experience of OpenOffice products. While OpenOffice and Symphony are based on the same core technology, there are many differences between the suites. OpenOffice is a collection of six products, while Symphony is a subset of three products.
