What is Executive Champion?

Overview

A person in an organization who acts to advocate for usability and encourage products to be designed keeping in mind the needs of the end user. They guide the UX designer through the project approval and selling process.

An executive champion acts as an advocate for a specific activity, function, or center of excellence in an organization. The role may be similar to that of a person leading an industry standards organization (ISO, IEEE, ITU, etc.).

UX executives who drive real change and innovation in their organizations rely on many of the same technologies when working with their teams and stakeholders.

An executive champion actively supports the UX team and he will have a substantial budget impact on the entire area of the UX team's work. In addition, champions must actively support the team by reinforcing the importance of UX objectives, ensuring resources, and removing political barriers.
