What is Call-To-Action?

Overview

A call to Action (CTA) is a message that encourages a reader, or a user to take an action on the website. It's a marketing term used to indicate an immediate response to any design or to encourage immediate sales.

A call-to-action (CTA) is a message that invites a reader, user, or consumer to take an action such as downloading, buying, or reading. A CTA often refers to the use of words or phrases that can be included in sales scripts, advertising messages, or web pages to compel an audience to act in a specific way.

In marketing, a call to action (CTA) is an instruction to the audience with an imperative verb such as “subscribe here”, "call now", or "contact us". Some types of CTA might provide users with strong reasons for purchasing immediately with offers like 'Limited stocks available or 'Offer must expire soon'.

The key to a powerful CTA button is to provide consumers with a compelling reason to shop immediately rather than postponing their buying decisions. A CTA can also be a simple request like "watch this video", "choose a color" or other more demanding requests such as a request for the user to buy a product or provide contact information. A CTA is a digital form of an image that encourages a lead to move closer to making a decision. “Click here,” “Download Now,” and “Learn More,” are all examples of CTAs we are already familiar with.
