A drop-down list (drop-down, or DDL) also known as a drop-down menu, drop menu, pull-down list, or picklist; is a graphical control element, similar to a list box. It allows the user to choose one value from a list with selected keystrokes.

In a computer GUI, a drop-down menu is a menu that provides a list of options. A drop-down list box is a list of limited options that are displayed below a field after clicking it, Drop down list is used to avoid errors and save keystrokes. When a drop-down list is inactive, it displays a single value, and when activated, it displays (drops down) a list of values, from which the user may select one. When the user selects a newer value other than the listed keywords, the control reverts to its inactive state and displays the selected value. It option is generally used in the design of GUI and web design.
