What is Navigation Design?
Overview
Navigation Design is an element of user interface (UI) design that manages how users move between sections and features in an app or website. Based on task design and information architecture definitions developed in conceptual design, navigation design marks the first formal design step.
Navigation Menu: On a website, a navigation menu is a UI element containing a number of values that the user can select from. It is an organized list of links to other web pages, usually internal pages. Navigation menus commonly appear in a website's page header or sidebar, allowing visitors to quickly access the most useful pages.
Navigational Components:
Search fields, breadcrumbs, sliders, pagination, tags, and icons are navigational components in the navigation design for interacting with the UI.
Navigational Elements:
Navigational Elements are also called UI elements, which help with task completion, efficiency, and satisfaction. Menu, Input Controls, Navigational Components, informational components, and accordions are important navigational elements.
