The operating system can be defined as the interface between the user and the hardware. It provides the user with an environment from which the user can do his work in a convenient and efficient manner.

What is Operating System?
Overview
The operating system can be defined as the interface between the user and the hardware. It provides the user with an environment from which the user can do his work in a convenient and efficient manner.
An OS is software that acts as an interface or medium between computer hardware components and the user.
The OS helps us communicate with the computer in computer language. Every computer system must have at least one operating system in order to run other programs.
Without the operating system, it is not possible for the user to use any computer or mobile device. Applications like browsers, MS Office, Notepad games, etc require a certain environment to run and perform their functions.
