What is Joint Advisory Design (JAD) Sessions?

Overview

Joint Advisory Design (JAD) Sessions are meetings in which developers and users convene to discuss aspects of an interface under development. Sometimes called facilitated workshops.

JAD (Joint Advisory Design) process, is a process that accelerates the design of information technology solutions. JAD uses customer engagement and group dynamics to accurately portray a user's vision of a business need and jointly develop a solution. Prior to the advent of JAD, requirements were identified by interviewing stakeholders in person. The ineffectiveness of this interview technique, which focused on individual input rather than group consensus, led to the development of the JAD approach.
