What is List Box?

Overview

List boxes, such as checkboxes, allow users to select multiple items at a time, but are more compact and can support longer lists of options if required. A Listbox, also known as a pick list, is a list of options contained in a list box form, pop-up window, or dialog box.

A list box is a graphical control element that allows the user to select one or more items from a list contained within a static, multi-line text box. The user clicks inside the box to select an item, sometimes in combination with Shift or Ctrl to make multiple selections. "Control-clicking" an item already selected deselects it.

A list box is called Select/Select1 in the XForms standard. Select is used to allow the user to select multiple items from the list whereas select1 only allows the user to select a single item from the list.

List Box is the most basic Sheets object, which contains a list for all values of a specific field. Each row in the listbox may represent more than one record in the loaded table, all with the same value. Thus selecting a single value can be equivalent to selecting multiple records in the loaded table.

A ListBox control presents a vertical list of items that the user can scroll through and select. The list box text limit is based on machine memory, which essentially equals no limit. Memory is allocated as needed.
