What is Design Verification?

The process of verifying that the interface, as built, matches the specified design. In contrast, design verification tests the correspondence of the design with the actual needs of the end users.

Design verification is a method of verifying whether the output of a designed software product meets input specifications by examining and providing evidence. The goal of the design verification process during software development is to ensure that the designed software product is identical to that specified.

Design input is any physical and performance requirement that is used as the basis for the designing objective. Design output is the result of each design phase and is at the end of the total design effort. The final design output device is a basis for the master record.

Design validation is an essential step in the development of any product. Also known as competency testing, design verification ensures that a designed product is exactly what the product is intended for.
