Widgets are an important aspect of home screen customization. It is an element of user interaction; like a chat window, a component of a dashboard, or an embedding of other services. A widget is an immutable detail of part of a user interface that manages the underlying render tree.

Widgets come in different forms depending on which device you have, but generally, they are smaller versions of apps that can be added to your home screen as an easy way to access the information you need. Some popular examples of widgets are event countdowns, website visitor counters, clocks, daily weather reports, etc.
