What is Use Case?

Overview

A use case is a written description and list of actions or steps that typically defines an interaction between a role (user) and a system to achieve a goal. It outlines the behavior of the system, from the user's point of view, as it responds to a request. Each use case is represented as a sequence of simple steps, starting with a user goal and ending when that goal is accomplished.

A use case is a methodology used in systems analysis to identify, articulate, and organize system requirements. A use case outlines the success and failure scenarios that can occur when actors interact with the system. In this section, you will establish the key success scenarios, ie the most desirable outcomes between the actor and the system. You will also establish alternate pathways that describe what happens in the event of a failure or error.
