What is Progressive Web Application (PWA)?

Overview

Progressive Web Apps (abbreviated: PWAs) are a further development of "classic" web apps. A PWA is visible to the user as a web page, however, there are many features of a mobile app. Like an app application with intuitive usability and modern UX design in the browser - without pre-downloading from the App Store.

A progressive web application leverages the latest technologies to combine the best of web and mobile applications. Think of it as a website built using web technologies but it works and feels like an app.

PWAs take advantage of a much larger web ecosystem, plugins, and community, and the relative ease of deploying and maintaining a website, compared to native apps in the respective app store.

Progressive web apps (PWAs) are web apps that use service workers, manifests, and other web-platform features in combination with progressive enhancements to give users an experience similar to a native app.
