What is Localization?

Overview

Website localization is the process of adapting the existing website to the regional/local language and culture of the target market. It is the process of adapting a website to a different linguistic and cultural context – it involves much more than a simple translation of the text.

Website localization involves mixed strategies, in which organizations maintain a global image by using website localization to appeal to local users. Website localization (also known as l10n) is essentially the process of customizing your original website through language, design, and cultural elements to provide a user experience relevant to your new target audience.

While app localization is a process of refining and changing an app to appeal to a geographically specific target audience. You want to make sure that your app is as attractive and easy to use outside your country. App localization enables your app to meet the needs of users who speak other languages by customizing everything from units of measurement to currencies and idiomatic expressions.
