What is Visual-Cognitive Processing?

Overview

Under visual-cognitive processing of perception, there are visual skills that a person must develop to improve their abilities and develop an understanding of their surroundings. The five skills for Visual-Cognitive Processing include attention, perception, learning, memory, and discrimination.

Visual cognition processing is the branch of psychology that deals with combining visual data with prior knowledge to construct high-level representations and make unconscious decisions about visual content.

Visual-cognitive processing helps a person to identify an object by seeing only part of it. When a person sees an object and stores the mental image in his brain, he can recognize the same object later, even if he cannot see the whole thing. The previously stored mental image can help them to see the rest of the object only from the part they see.
