Aliasing - The process of filling the jagged edges of an image or typeface with extra pixels. The color type of a pixel is the average between the color and the background.

Anti-Aliasing - The process of filling out the jagged edges of an image or typeface with more pixels. The color type of a pixel is the average between the color and the background.

Aliasing occurs when an oscilloscope does not sample the signal fast enough to produce an accurate waveform record. The signal frequency is misidentified, and the waves displayed on an oscilloscope become indistinguishable. Aliasing is a form of undersampling.

Anti-aliasing is one way by which you can eliminate the jugs appearing in objects in PC games. There are many different types of anti-aliasing methods, each with its advantages and disadvantages. Many PC games have a built-in game window where you can adjust graphics settings, including anti-aliasing.
