What is Tag?

Overview

A tag is an interactive element presented with a keyword or phrase that enables the user to jump quickly to items marked with it. Tags are actually pieces of metadata that provide quick access to specific categories of content so that they can support navigation in addition to content categorization.

Tags are relevant keywords that are associated with or specified by a piece of information. The tag is often used on social websites, where users can upload their own content. Here, tags are used to let users organize and categorize their own data in the public domain. Tags are used to label, categorize objects, or organize design elements. Tags can also serve as a label for content or display counts.
